2008 NSMC Cancer Walk

One of the questions that the North Shore Medical Center has asked in regards to today is, “Who will you be walking for?”

The answer to that question is very simple. Today we are here in honor of my brother, Dennis Rich Jr. Today we are celebrating his life. Today is a tribute to Dennis. We will never forget him, his infectious spirit, or his insatiable hunger for life. He is missed every moment, of every day, by so many people. We are also here in support of his wife, Jodi, and their three beautiful girls, Alana, Elise and Mia.

I sincerely want to thank all of you—- family, friends, and even the complete strangers who have gone out of their way to show my family love and support during this difficult time. I also want to thank you all for being a part of Team Hungry For Life.

I know that Dennis is here walking with us today. I also know that he is extremely proud of all we have accomplished. We love you, Den.
Let’s start the WALK by giving Team Hungry For Life a round of applause.

Katie,
Great job on all your hard work preparing for this and for raising so much money for NSMC! I was so proud to be in my blue t-shirt today and walking with our huge group! I know Dennis must have been loving it all.

I just wanted to say it was such a pleasure meeting everyone today and walking in honor of Dennis. I can see why Dennis was the person he was. He was surrounded by great family and friends.

It was also such a pleasure meeting and talking with Dennis' father. When I was leaving he asked Erin if she had my name and number I said I would be in touch by Dennis' blog. My telephone number is (617) 561-6584. If there if anything I can do for any one of you please call anytime. If there is another fundraiser in Dennis' honor I am there or anything else count me in.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL
Phyllis

What a day yesterday was! It was difficult but also very uplifting. I was surrounded by so many good people and I felt Dennis w/ us.
Having eachother is the only way we can all deal w/ such a huge loss.
He must have been so proud, he liked to do things in a big way and we did just that in honor of him.

Jodi, I know how hard it was for you and you showed so much strength and devotion, as you always do. I love you.

Thanks to everyone for being there.
Thanks Katie~you did a great job!

What a GREAT day!!! Thanks so much for including us. It was an honor for us to walk with all of you for Dennis.

Katie - You did a great job! What you said to everyone was perfect. You are a very special person to have done all you have.

I have to add how impressed I was with all the "Rich" girl's husbands. I know all my cousin's are great with the kids (it is the Gayhart in us! ha, ha) But, your husband's were great yesturday with all the kids in all the strollers. The kids were adorable - bouncing around to different strollers to Dad to Uncles. What a nice day and a really nice family! Your parents seemed to be o.k. too!! I was so happy to see that. God bless you all! Love, your cousin Debbie

I was happy to finally meet the Sullivans, Phyllis, Mark and Kristen. All these people that have gone out of their way for my family...it means so much.

What a great day.
A special thanks to my sister Erin too. What a great job on the t-shirts. We were the best dressed group of the WALK!

Katie...you did a great job putting this all together (with a newborn and a 2 year old at home, too), I can't tell you how many people I saw stopping and looking at all of us. We were in the middle of our group (in the beginning anyway) and a woman driving by stopped and asked Millie what we were walking for and we were proud to tell her!
