Skiing

Alana and Elise went skiing on their school vacation week at Mt. Cranmore with Papa Charlie. Elise skis like a pro now, thanks to him, and Alana also does well-- she skis black diamonds with no problem. Dennis would be so proud!

Dennis & Lucky

Phyllis,
Maybe it's just pure coincidence-- but we had a Lucky too. Lucky was our family dog for 14 years. Here is a picture of the two of them together. Maybe it's a sign?

Touching

I got a really cool email from Phyllis Gentile-DelVecchio that I wanted to share with everyone.

My son Domenic (who will be 6 years old in May) has been bugging me for a puppy but I kept telling him to wait until my daughter, Vanessa, is a little older because she is just starting to be interested in potty training. I thought it would be too hard to train a 2 year old along with a new puppy.
Anyway, I was reading Dennis' website and he mentioned that all children should have a dog in their lives. He got me thinking and just today I bought my son a little Yorkie Terrier (he is the cutest little thing). I am picking him up on Valentine's Day. He will be so surprised.
So you see, Dennis touched my son's life in a way that will make him such a happy little boy. He would have gotten a dog sooner or later but when I saw the picture of Dennis and his daughter as an infant with a dog, I thought why not get the little puppy my son wants so much?
Your brother was and is so special. It seems his life and legacy will affect people in such a positive way even in death.

I thought this story was awesome and I know Dennis would think so too. Here is a pic of Lucky Gentile-DelVecchio. He is absolutely adorable. Thanks for sharing Phyllis!

I have a dream...

In this video clip you can hear Elise say, "I have a dream that everyone in the world will be safe."

Martin Luther King

Jodi and I recently went to Elise's kindergarten presentation about Martin Luther King. The children in the class stood up and sang songs they learned, and talked about the values he taught them. Alana was allowed to come down from her class and visit. Elise picked Alana to do a clapping song with her.
Of course, Elise was very interested in what Mia was doing again and kept waving to her! When Jodi and I were leaving the class we noticed she had colored her Martin Luther King figure in a blue suit. Her Daddy is never far from her mind.

Smile

This pic was taken on Christmas Eve in 1997. It was the night that Dennis popped the question.

There is one aspect of this photo that struck me instantaneously. This is truly what an ecstatic couple in love on one of the happiest days of the year looks like.

It made me smile too.

I Miss You

The song on the blog today is by Hannah Montana. It is one of Alana's favorites because it reminds her of her Daddy.

You used to call me your Angel
Said I was sent straight down from heaven
And you'd hold me close in your arms
I loved the way you felt so strong
I never wanted you to leave
I wanted you to stay here holdin me

I miss you
I miss your smile
And I still shed a tear every once in any while
And even though it's different now
You're still here somehow
My heart won't let you go
And I need you to know
I miss you
Sha-la-la-la-la
I miss you

You used to call me your dreamer
And now I'm livin' out my dream
Oh, how I wish you could see
Everything that's happenin' for me
I'm thinkin' back on the past
It's true the time is flyin' by too fast

I miss you
I miss your smile
And I still shed a tear every once in a while
And even though it's different now
You're still here somehow

My heart won't let you go
And I need you to know
I miss you
Sha-la-la-la-la
I miss you

I know you're in a better place, yeah
But I wish that I could see your face, oh
I know you're where you need to be
Even though it's not here with me

I miss you
I miss your smile
And I still shed a tear every once in a while
And even though it's different now
You're still here somehow
My heart won't let you go
And I need you to know
I miss you
Sha-la-la-la-la-la
I miss you
I miss your smile
And I still shed a tear every once in a while
And even though it's different now
You're still here somehow
My heart won't let you go
And I need you to know
I miss you
