Summer BBQ

All of these pictures were taken this summer, on Father's Day, in my parent's backyard. An easy summer afternoon filled with family, laughing, eating and swimming. The usual.
The two pictures below are extremely special to me. I asked Dennis to pose and he didn't have a problem goofing around for the camera. That is no surprise really. The part that makes me laugh is that he wanted me to keep taking pics of him, because that's just how Dennis was. He wanted to get this pose right-- he wanted to look tough. As he flexed he made a comment to me, (because at the time he was not feeling that great) that this was a guy who had cancer.
Just look at him. Tan, handsome, muscular. You'd never know what he was going through just by looking at him.
There are a few different versions of this pose that are almost the same but each a little different. Initially the two below landed in a pile of pictures that I wasn't going to post because I had previously used my favorite one (way back at the beginning of this blog) and they are all so similar that these seemed kind of redundant. But because these pictures truly capture Dennis, because I am so happy that I caught these images on film-- I decided to go ahead and share two more that you have not seen before. Let's call these the outtakes.

These are the days I will miss the most. This was just any given Sunday at Ma and Dad's house. It just won't be the same without him.
I am happy that he posed for lots of pictures. I think I may remember that next time I try to hide from a camera.

What a GREAT post, great pics!
Katie, we always made fun of you for having that camera w/ you everywhere~so glad you did.

Those BBQ's were the BEST times, the times we will all remember most~just simple family time.

Dennis loved a BBQ. We loved hanging out on Sunday's with everyone. Those are such bittersweet memories. Your right Mary, we shouldn't hide from the camera. We should be more camera ready like Dennis ,cause you never know. When I look at the picture of Mia and Dennis. I'm happy and sad at the same time. I probably wasn't going to let her have her own slush. Dennis as I called him (FUN DADDY) said just let her have her own slush. Well ,the picture speaks for it selve. Mia certainly got her way. Dennis was such a good dad.I wish my girls got to see really how good of a dad they had. We love you, Jodi& the girls oxox

If you look closely in the second pic of us all sitting around the table, Dennis is doing his neck thing.

What a great family, you all look so happy in every picture you all take. Thank you Katie for the pictures. I have to credit my Aunt Jeannie and Uncle Dennis for an outstanding job in raising their children, they all have become such incredible adults in every way possible. I am so proud to be your cousin.

And Mia you are so adorable, you look like you are enjoying that slush so much, good thing daddy let you have it because your smile say's it all. Love you all
