High School Memories

I met Dennis when we were in the 5th grade, as I was a pop warner cheerleader. I quickly learned that he was from Beachmont and I was from Broadway (I really did not know there were "sections" of Revere until pop warner) and because I was not from Beachmont, there was no way I would ever to be able say his name in a cheer that recognized all the football players! And we all wanted to say his name because he was a great player.
We were immediately buddies for some reason, which I am grateful for. High school came and we found ourselves in class together. I was still cheerleading for his football team and we ran track together as well. Dennis was very smart. He was also very persuasive and articulate. I recall him putting this skill to work by negotiating with my Mom constantly about my ridiculously early curfew our senior year, on the weekends for the football parties. He often gained me an extra hour or two which was much appreciated. And of course I remember his love of football.
I also remember some great track memories. For some reason, being the good friend he is, he would stand at the turn on the track prior to the finish line to tell me to pick it up with one lap to go. I never had to tell him to be there. He knew it helped. During senior year he started to say, "Kick it!" at that turn. I think he got that from those Beastie Boys that he LOVED at the time. I also remember how he was such a gentleman (of course he was, I now know given 5 sisters). For example, I was driving way too many people in my car on a street behind McDonald's on Squire Road and we got a flat tire. We all got out and I started to get the equipment out to change the tire. Dennis said to me something like "What are you doing?" and he proceeded to take care of everything without a single complaint. And of course, I remember how Jimmy was like his twin brother. His best friend. Senior year was full of fun times that will never be forgotten. So here are some pictures. I hope you see how happy and proud we are to have been his friend. I miss you Dennis.

Only Dennis could pull off a Tail blue shirt with white suspenders. Could you imagine Freddy in that outfit. Fun times.

Freddy, you know how my mother was with that camera. I have plastic tubs filled of our photos. My mission this weekend is to go thru the tubs and grab out all the pictures of us. I know there are thousands of them. We'll try to get them up on the site next week. Hope to see you at the reunion, congrats on the marriage. Love you Gina.
