This blog has been established for those of you who love and care about my brother, Dennis M. Rich. Dennis battled sarcoma for over two years. His strength and courage is truly inspiring. This is a piece of his story.
Dennis was an awesome uncle. One time Kelsey was about five or six years old and maybe in first grade, I was at our parnets house and telling everyone about this kid in school who was bothering Kelsey. She wore glasses since she was a baby and of course some kid decided to tease her. Later that week Dennis called me, he was so upset about this he couldn't sleep. I think he was even more upset than me or Kelsey. He called me and said he had a friend that was a police officer and that he could call him to come to Kelsey's school to talk about bullying. (I think he really just wanted to scare that kid, haha)I had to convince him she would be fine. He was just like that, a protector of his family. I know he will just be protecting us from somewhere else. I love you Dennis! And so do Kelsey, Colin, Brendan, Erin and Brooke!
Mary that is so funny because just this past April I was out to dinner with Dennis and Jodi at the Macoroni Grill one night after work. I happened to tell Dennis a story about how I was having problems with 2 co workers and how it had been going on for quit awhile. I mentioned that I was driven to tears one day & some of the stories went on and on (probably because we were consuming lots of alchohol) but anyway Jodi called me at 8am the next morning and said Dennis was so upset about it after they left the restaurant he didnt sleep all night! He vividly remembered there names and would constantly ask me for updates. I told him a white lie one day and said it was all cleared up just to take the look of worry off his face. Hearing your story reminded me of this and so many other times I have seen him show worry and concern for others. Dennis was blessed with a special gift called compassion and I only wish there was more of it to go around!! Your parents raised an amazing son.
