Jimmy V's Speech

If you have never seen this speech, or heard of Jim Valvano, it's a must watch. For those of you who don't know who he was, Jim Valvano was a great college basketball coach who died of cancer 14 years ago after a one year battle. It is, I believe, very inspirational.

The last line is unbelievably powerful, it took a weight off my shoulders. How amazingly true.

i remember watching this speech live with my dad in 93. at the time, he was going through interferon treatments for hairy-cell leukemia, he had had 2 different types of cancer at that time over 15 yrs, and without saying, I knew my dad understood what jimmy v was saying... the speech covered everything..when you are diagnosed with a terminal illness, i guess its easy to give up, to roll over and say i've had it..Dennis not only fought hard, he lived life to the fullest. He laughed, he thought, he cried..He never gave up, but more importantly, he always had a positive outlook.. I am grateful that I was able to be close Dennis Rich, for the past 25 years, but especially the last 2 years. He taught me a lot about life, and about dignity and respect. And in my mind, Dennis approach to his illness epitomizs this speech. God bless - and I too MISS MY FRIEND---tommy

That is so true! Uncle Bob and Dennis both taught me to appreciate life and to live each day to it's fullest. They both were so positive and inspiring to be around. In their time of trouble they worried about everyone else, they showed me the way to be strong. If they could go through their battles so strong and caring we can follow their lead and we too shall live life!
Dennis will always live on in my heart and soul as will my husband. I Love & Miss you both!
