The Great Wall of Hope

I wanted to post specifically about The Great Wall of Hope in Dennis' room at the hospital. For those of you who have not seen it, I will try to do my best to describe it to you.
The Great Wall of Hope is a wall that is covered almost from ceiling to floor. There are pictures. Lots and lots of pictures. Pictures of Dennis and Jodi on their wedding day. Pictures of Dennis' family and friends. Pictures of Dennis on vacation and of him dancing. A Picture of Dennis holding a very large bass (he told me that was one of his favorites). There are lots of pictures of the kids too. I have seen Dennis look at these ones closely and motion that his kids were his heart.
There are letters and cards up there too. Letters of encouragement and ones telling him how much he is loved.
There are drawings from the kids that say "I love you Daddy." There are also three little blue hearts on the wall that the girls gave to him.
There are two Rich Construction t-shirts on the wall. Rich Construction is the company that he and Jimmy started. The t-shirts are hung to remind him that the crew is missing him and thinking of him every day.
There is an old, worn football jersey up there too. Jay Maxwell was thoughtful enough to go to Revere High, talk to the Athletic Director there (who was one of Dennis' coaches way back when), and arrange to get Dennis' old jersey back. We all know how much Dennis enjoys the glory days. He was always an exceptional football player.
There are also several poster boards with inspirational quotes-- my favorite says "Winners never quit."
There are several other items-- too many to list here. The outpouring of love and support on this wall is truly heart-warming.

The nurses in the ICU have told Jodi that they have never seen anything like The Great Wall of Hope. They have never seen a guy that has so many people who love and care about him. But that's Dennis-- he's pretty popular. Looking at The Wall of Hope is simply what Dennis is all about. He has an amazing support system and so many people who care about him.
And of course the nurses are getting attached to Dennis. To know him is to love him. We all know that.
